You Know You Can Skip This Entry
Monday, March 31, 2008 - 9:14 PM
Can someone pleasssse explain the sudden turn up of anonymous readers I am getting? Nuffnang tells that I get visits from places like Venezuela, Brazil, Greece and India?!

Guys, you have just trespassed into holy ground, take your leave kindly.

Am feeling being fucking mistreated like a maid when I have to:

1. wash a basketfull of smelly laundry that isn't mostly self-contributed
2. rid a dead house lizard lying grostequely in the kitchen sink with a plastic bag on hand
3. clear up the mess after my brother makes a slipshod washing up of the dishes
4. clear my bro's rubbish, most of which is tissue used up for his wank jobs (duh)

Am steaming away like a hot little char siew bun now. =S (sieow ah!)

And, I think, that the bathroom is an excellent place to gain enlightenment! Really.

I can go on with my himbotic rants but I'd skip just for today. Blogging can be quite draining sometimes I think.

Give and You Shall Receive
Sunday, March 30, 2008 - 10:45 PM
It's quite a lousy feeling when a brain clot surges at the most unexpected timing and the roaring emotions and stories waiting to be poured out goes unheard. Gone. Yes, terribly unbecoming I know.

I'm feeling a subtly warm and sanctified sensation that's going through the spirit and soul tonight. Like the summer wind over the calm tranquil lake; am pacified by the embrace of kindness and love. Let us join hands in meditation with greatest respect in light of Earth Hour and the American Election that beckons a new twilight of the era - say "Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..." and you know this goes on indefinitely eh?

Okay, but, serious. A kind deed has its returns and I have reaped the spiritual benefits of giving tonight. Firstly, played counsellor and imposed self on my tuition student when he broke out in what seemed like a trivial squabble with his siblings. Although the effort to appease the situation came in vain and things ended up ugly when what seemed like the mother walking in with an expressionless face and a quite expected turn out for the kids after I left the house (I could almost imagine the mother running after the children with a cane on hand after I heard noises coming from inside >< ). Anyways, apart from the usual disinterest and halfhearted attempts to keep himself awake during tuition, my student offered me something more invaluable tonight, that is, perspective. I think I see a lot of myself at a more juvenile age then in him often. The coming-of-age period when we all try really hard to come to terms with so many things, like, having to make difficult reconciliation with judgemental parents, throatcutting with siblings over littlest things, and fighting to keep ourselves sane over the consistent bombardment of fashion, peer pressure, the media and so on so forth. Oh, and how can I forget, even the trying phase of puberty no one can escape (thank god I got through with that alive). I know Marcus is having a difficult time but there's so little I can offer; and seriously I think it is only right and of necessary need that I draw a delicate line between my job as a tutor and the one-sided willingness to even consider him as a friend. Afterall, we all have a life to deal with and I don't think given my capacity I can or am willing to make life a tad better for the kid. But I think that the issue at hand should be dealt with from the core of the matter which i am not quite sure of yet but with certain faith I can assure that the evident knowledge of being loved by people around him will suffice to tide him through. Lucky kiddo.

With love and hope, nothing is impossible. Mother Teresa summons.

I want to talk about something else that prequels after this little episode, but I cannot because it will probably take forever before I can even finish writing before midnight.

YES. The second dignified deed of the day was that I helped an old lady comb the floor for a 10-cent coin she dropped by accident. We did not manage to retrieve what was lost but the incidence was proof to myself that I am still (thankfully) capable of being a nice person even though I never did quite imagine myself to ever be one. And that we can always break through that superficial/solipsistic/hypocritical/and-who-knows-what-other makeup of this existing persona - only if we take the first step. I hope anything counts, because the knowledge of what I have achieved today is really comforting in the name of humanity.

Truth of the day: we should never stop trying in pursuit of a 真善美 that resides within us. Eat that.

On other drier news, the pre-F1 demonstration of a singular racing car at Padang today under the sweltering sun was a let down. I felt reallllly conned today because there was no freebies as promised earlier! Only those who made their way to the grandstand got lah! Johnnie Walker exclusive umbrellas least. Ahhhh kiasu Singaporean reduced to the most miserable state now.

Weekends usually aren't spent with parents. But the past two nights alone felt exceptionally odd at home; I miss Mommy's nagging and Daddy tuning to TV and going semi-asleep. T.T

The get together with ex JC classmates was awesome because I finally got to see Cher Hern and Speedy after being separated by unforeseen circumstances (eeeeeeeehhhhh ARMY) for so many donkey years! Despite the poor turnout number, and En whom I yearned to see most but couldn't make it on a last minute notice, it turned out to be quite a great dimsum pigging experience at Crystal Jade Xiao Long Bao. I only have time to upload a photo ka-po-ed from Facebook because of the really bad quality Facebook can ONLY offer and I don't want that to mar your reading experience from my blog given the already mediocre standards. Somemore Miss CHOY SIEW WOON hasn't had the time to send a few decent photos over by MSN! I'll just have to keep nudging her online relentlessly.

Earlier plans to club tonight for Fabulous has had an abrupt cancellation due to lousy RSVP responses from both Jo's and my own invitations. I certainly hope the procrastination will come to an end ASAP, may be next weekend bah.

Aiyarrrr, I need my camera back! A severe deficit of photo feeds on blog these days!

Okay work tomorrow lah, night!

I drove to work today! For the benefit of those who can't read Japanese...mommy and daddy went on a 10-day trip overseas and I can have the car to myself finally!

It's Koizora fever and I'm bombarding you guys with all the OSTs!
Heavenly Days by 新垣結衣(Yui Aragaki)!

P.S. This is an outdated post entry that came in late but I had to share nonetheless.

恋空
Thursday, March 27, 2008 - 8:37 PM

A story of first love tainted with a good chunk of fallacies and paradoxes; I am feeling very sorry and sad for all the Japanese kids. T.T

お休み~ またね。

The Present and Then
Sunday, March 23, 2008 - 6:03 PM
When the inside of buses and trains don't look the same as they used to be,
When Nissan Sunny no longer is the new black,
When my Tanya Chua and DOI become a 90s affair (and I thought Maggie Deng was the only ancient person alive)
When the glorious days of SportCity and Channel I are long forgotten
And TCS becomes the equivalent of SBC;
You know time has moved a step ahead
And you are getting old.

(Pardon the cheesy expressions used)

Stanley's 21st
- 12:12 AM
A very eventful year I am expecting with so many of my friends turning legal 21 this annum. Michelle had thrown a surprise birthday party for Stanley yesterday (Awwww...) and invited the sum of all his family members and acquainted friends. Okay I figured Stanley's family had a major stake in the contribution of the party but I am crediting my cousin for the bulk of the effort still.

The TCHS gang was invited and we knew we had to make our presense for an old time friend! Well, more than the expected turned up and I got to see a few more familiar faces that haven't shown up since the release of our O level results (yes that long ago, mind you). To name a few: Yiu Hang, Terence, Weijie...

Bah. This is no narrative I think I am going to fall asleep soon.

So we/they/whoever got him an Ipod and almost everyone chipped in the cost. Neat gift for a 21 year old boy eh.

Okay it was quite obvious some people were dressed inappropriately for the occasion but I'm so not going to touch on that. You should see those gay pants that could have passed off as tights/undies. >< YONG WEI! So terrible of me to have his photos featured here. But one does not discriminate, no?
The girls, with their crafty little nimble handwork got this gigantic birthday board up in no time. Maomao and Weizong.
Zhuzhu!
Yeah it turned out to be like a mini class gathering. And Stanley's life just revolves around mostly TCHS people I realised; God knows if that's a blessing or whoknowswhat.
Birthday boy gets all the attention, all right.
His NJC classmates. And the only photo I have of yesterday's event with Michelle inside. Sorry dear couz, we should have taken photo together! Next time I promise.
Headcount...one, two, ....fourteen!
Yeah you. You. Lucky chap who got your entire world concentrated at one place to celebrate your cause! I wish my friends will do the same for me on my birthday lah.
I was quite taken aback when they told me the price of the cake. A whooping 160 dollars. You know, it's a cake you get once or twice, if lucky enough, in a lifetime.

Yadayadas...
Last group shot before I take my graceful leave.

Stan, I just want to say you are the most fortunate kiddo in the whole goddamned world; and you must be convinced that being loved is unequivocally the only thing that proves one's existence in every sense.

...

Later the same day, I made my way down to Jurong Point and caught the much anticipated film (drumrolls) Spiderwick Chronicles. We have been procrastinating since the beginning of time because of some awry events that took place. Anyways, it's a fairly good film comparable to Golden Compass and Series of Unfortunate Event (why do most children stories go about with three siblings most of the time?). Nice cinematography, most especially for the opening credits with the scene of Spiderwick in his attic. And the ending credits with the flower fairies! Haha sorry, but I am a sucker for fairytales and mythical stories.

To JS
Friday, March 21, 2008 - 11:29 PM
For crying out loud, tell me you didn't mean what you said and which you probably did out of convenient courtesy. So maybe it's not what you said or did, but it was more of what you didn't.

But it's just so you.

Because it would never have dawned upon me that I would have the fortune of being kindly missed by you.

And I know I ask too much; but you wouldn't do it for me even if it was out of charity. You know me for being vindictive, ugly and crude but I'm just being anal about practically everything.

Okay but through it all, you end up being my bestie (on a one-sided affair perhaps) because in you, I see nothing but you being yourself...and you know I look up to that.

And at the end of it, nothing else matters, because I made you and Fye promise me to catch up again soon.

Merry making under the kaleidoscopic lights with the best company you can ever get, what more can one ask for? So surreal. =)

Booze makes you swoon. But it's worth every bit.

With JS and Abel.

Can I just say how much I hate you JS for being so ever perfect at every angle and every lighting shot? The boy is blossoming into nothing less than sheer hotness.

Fye! And JS, I hate your little blase attitude even with that constipated face so awesomely crafted. How cool is it to have both your two best friends partying together?
I see a Calvin (from Calvin and Hobbs) in JS!

You know you want every psychedelic night spent like this.

Update: Alive
- 5:18 PM
JS- to say I don't mind paying for the booze would be a lie. I spent like 60 bucks, but it wouldn't hurt to say that the few hours of emotional heights and temporal liberation that could be enjoyed and well-spent with my two best friends was priceless (so cliche, I know).

And we didn't finish my Orange Vodka lah.

Okay, I'm really worn out (understatement, yesiree) and life's hanging on a thread this very moment. I crawled out of bed early despite the clear lack of sleep since 3AM and lugged self to Stanley's 21st birthday surprise in the west. And why am I cursed with such a terrible neighbour/friend/schoolmate/hallmate (the latter two are to-be's) Christopher Wong Jian Wei?! Who couldn't wake up in time and had me waiting outside his gate for least 30min before we decidedly cabbed down seeing the time it was already by when we got down to the busstop.

Photos from yest and today's occasion will be up soon hopefully. Most of the St James' shots you can look it up from my facebook/friendster private folder in time to come.

For now, I need to cocoon myself and go on hibernation indefinitely.

P.S. Chris, my exasperation for you was a bit over.

Science Centre!
- 12:23 PM
You can never get enough of me, can you?

Say yes (pleaseeeee...)

Photos up up and away! Okay I'm in a state of whimsical epilepsy and my neck is going to give way anytime but I'm still going to blog about Science Centre trip yesterday. Yeshhhh, made me relive how if felt like to be a kid once again. Still remember how my papa would bring my brother and I to Science Centre and we would have helluva fun there and at the end of the day be begging not to go home. I'm glad they have refurbished the place with new exhibits but it was quite disheartening I couldn't see my natural ecosystem exhibition; they probably had it torn down and replaced with I.T. or robotics - something tech savvy kids can associate better with.

Ah yes so I met up with Jo at the entrance after lunchtime for a really great get together time...

The President's Portrait was quite marvelling at first until I realised the sensors weren't really working the way they were intended to somehow. We stood in front of the portrait like forever and kept waving in his face but His Excellency Mr Nathan just wouldn't turn to look this direction. =(
Something quite distant I thought I wouldn't come across again in my lifetime- the periodic table lar! I totally abhor chemistry lessons with Ms Mok when she forcefully made the class memorise the entire periodic table by hard in secondary school! Urghhh.
Joseph.
I want to own a car of my own soon. But probably not this one lah.
Feline not.
The Singapore Science Centre houses too many exhibitions, one of the most current is the Mummies one la, but nothing quite spectacular.
Okay this one is a plain dorky suggestion I came up with, that is, to put our head literally inside the rainbow lighted box. But nice, not?

Grotesquely scary enough to deter you away from my blog. WAHAHAH! I think SC has been performing this stunt for ages, the Tesla coil electric field thingy that fascinates people of all ages.

My lifetime arch enemy, I know you hate them too.
Oei, uncle what you doing sia?

The VIRUS exhibition with a busstop indoors.
We couldn't resist snapping a photo with the pole.
I hate Hepatitis the most, because I haven't got my immunity after the last injection and it only means I'm still susceptible to it lah!
The "Virus Departure Board" on an LCD screen. Neat.

My favourite exhibition, but alas, it was closing hour when we toured halfway and we could only brush through the stuffs there.
!!!

WHEEEE!

Okay this one is damn cool lah...a Google Earth installed and you can explore the entire planet on a round table and the projection is damn clear! You can easily toggle and zoom by tilting and rotating the table top.
LOL. This is one ludicrous invention, one stupid talking bimbotic robot that plays onscreen games with you and keeps talking nonstop, like, "hmm...this is tricky. I think I will put my checker on..." Even the kids found her a menace. Gay toy, even Barbie doll beats you lah.
Mozaic digitalised images! I wished we could have taken more photos then but it was really getting late and we had to rush for the exit. My favourite pic for the day anyways.

Timbre
Saturday, March 15, 2008 - 11:47 PM
I made myself keep thy word -and pictures you get, as always.

Friday night after work. A chill-out event proposed by Zi Xuan; the gathering was meant initially for like four guys but somehow the invitation list got so accommodating we decided majority of the department made their way down for a wonderful night after a hard day's work.

Timbre at the SubStation.

We could only leave the building at seven when work ended around six because Jacky offered a ride with his weekend car and we couldn't resist the sheer temptation of a better alternative from public transport or an expensive cabby ride to town. A few of us got there earlier and we waited like silly poodles for dog food ~ no actually we had to wait for the other group of people who got themselves lost while finding the way. I can never understand why people choose beer over any better self-preferred alcoholic beverages, maybe because for the practical reason of price sake. So we waited till the "tee or or" (favourite colloquial hokkien phrase for "sky black black" lar) and the party crowd seemed complete then did the whole atmosphere...umm...started to turn insipid and embarrassingly dead. I know, so wrong right? But I guess it's pretty much expected for a gathering of colleagues and not quite what we all had in mind - a reunion occasion of friends or somewhat close. I mean, apart from work, there's nothing really much common we have to talk about so you can pretty much imagine the socialite's type of jokes everyone could garner and the typical bitching of bosses and stuffs akin.

Booze made most of us merry that night and despite the mediocre performance from the live band feed, I think the need for people to socialise and interact sufficed the liveliness and fun that were lacking. Yadayadas, let's move on to pictures that speak better for themselves.

Let's see. I'm in the mood for narration.

A throat cutting relationship we all share, especially when it boils down to sweeping Hock Chuan's logs. Hahaha stupid pun!

Less outstanding photos require some fade in vivid colour to bring out something more unique which I'm not quite sure of, yet- maybe without the tasteful colours and playful contrast, only can one look deeper into the stark telling of our faces that are shot and the story that lies behind. (You can never really know)

Mr Chew Zi Xuan, smile for the camera for once will'ya. I like the secondary one Zi Xuan I knew better then.
Don and Hock. Silly tease on cam do spice up the picture sometimes.
ZX, myself, Apper (my 'shifu' aka mentor at work), Serene.
Jacky and Huey Sian. Jacky's from a sister department but that doesn't make anyone of us less unfamiliar to one another, he's a really great chap but a pity he's moving on to another firm soon. Huey Sian was a very nice colleague (okay maybe she still is, but only more distant) who got a department transfer months ago - Shiang Wah, herself and I make a good trio when it comes to neat Japanese three way conversation via Email. =)

Meek smiles.
Ying Zi and Pei Suan. The two girls who can always liven up office atmosphere anytime, cheers.
The stage with the live band; the performance was a lousy blend of fast-tempo rock music belted out against a husky sultry jazz voice all put together so inappropriately.
I finally decided to put the cap back on because of a terrible hair day (like since when my hair got on good terms with the owner). Anyways, a nicely taken photo of myself with Puay Suan and Xin Yi jiejies. haha.
Ying Zi! You know I didn't mean it when I implied we aren't really close? Us showing our pearlie whites, no? And I hate it when my hair 盖半边脸!
And, again!
Then was, what I felt, the highlight of the evening, when spirits eclipsed to the max! Don ordered a jug of Long Island and better (or worse, you pick), the legendary Flaming Tower!
Yes, you hear it from people's mouth, you probably witnessed it elsewhere but few actually have tried the real thing. Hahaha, otherwise known as Waterfall, this is the pinnacle to lighting up anyone's day almost literally! You can't really see it well on photos but it's actually lighting up the drink with real fire, yes. I don't know what psyched Zi Xuan and Don to finish the drink but I'm guessing they barely survived the night.
Getting ready...Y' know the man's been waiting for this moment with his new hawt baby.
And with one mouthful or two, they forcefully gulped the burning sensation down the throat. =S
I really don't know whether it was sheer joy or pain that face was telling. But you know they owned that night.

I need to turn in now. A more exciting day to be told soon, because I just came back from Science Centre and I have too many photos to upload and share but the abundance of pictures can be more overwhelming than counting sheep. Hahaha, whatever that means.

Goodnight all.

Am going for a tad less than conventional socialising with fellow colleagues (I want to call them my friends but felt that 'colleagues' seemed a more technical and matter of factly term) at a very unheard place called Timbre at Fort Canning Park tomorrow, yeps and will be taking lotsa photos I promise! I probably sound like the strangest dodo bird here but going out with friends feels really distant to me le.

Yeah, tell me you miss me.

The Handyman
- 5:56 PM

This is a mirror I got from IKEA at a very good whopping deal few weeks ago but never really had the time to get it functional up on wall. Weekend comes and you know it's time to get your ass to it.

I took forever to get the materials and equipment necessary for this mega operation because regrettably I am too louyapok for a handyman's job.

Then it's Eddie the handyman to work! BRRRRRRR!!!
Then you drive the phallic drill into the poor little virgin wall with steady hands...and it goes...
Next came the delicate task of screwing which I thought I was quite awed for a split second, I must admit, for the ingenious idea that mankind came up with to get a tiny screw fixed onto a wall. It's quite an intricate yet ironically speaking basic process when you get the whole picture, but I am missing out some details here and there which explains I am not a very good guide but heck who cares...

TADAHs! Mission accomplished!

Yay..going to see Ziyao (after an indefinite period of playing dead all these while) later after my tuition session with my obnoxious kid.
